Marriott launched a new set of targeted bonus offers for select Bonvoy members in early December (read more here) and, late last week, made the offers available for broader membership.
My account was not eligible for the Double Up bonus offer when I wrote the piece, but I received an offer email from Marriott on Friday requesting to sign up for it, and it also showed up in Marriott’s Promotion Central.
You can check your Marriott Bonvoy Promotion Central here.

Email Marriott Sent On Friday:
The Small Print:
*Registration must occur within three weeks of receiving this email. A weekend night is defined as a Friday or Saturday night. A “stay” is defined as one or more consecutive nights spent at the same hotel, regardless of check-in/checkout activity on any points-eligible rate (“Qualifying Rate”). Remember to book directly on marriott.com to earn.
I don’t recall seeing this registration requirement note previously. It means that you cannot register for this specific offer in January 2022 and have the promotion be valid for stays through April 30, 2022 (consistently the month you sign up + the following three).
Promotion Central:
The registration shows up fine, as does the offer that ended yesterday.
Conclusion
It is unclear when Marriott Bonvoy will announce and launch its first global promotion for 2022 and if they take a very long break like they did earlier this year. I hope they return to a predictable schedule of bonus points offers with a few weeks max in-between them.
There is something weird with these targeted offers that Marriott inherited from SPG. Based on my personal experience, you tend to get targeted once per year; in one year, I got two. However, some readers claim that they have never received one.
