Marriott Bonvoy launched in February an offer to purchase Bonvoy points with a 40% Bonus through April 3, 2023, which it has now extended by 10 days.
Members are currently allowed an annual purchase of 100,000 Marriott Points, transactions of which are subject to either a bonus or discount depending on the promotional campaign of the day.
You can access this offer on Marriott’s website here.

For the current period until April 14, 2023, members who wish to purchase or gift points will receive a 40% bonus, though Marriott Bonvoy has previously sold its points at 60% and 50% bonuses.
Note that a member’s account that receives the points must have been open for at least 90 days OR 30 if there has been any qualifying activity.
The price of a Bonvoy point (one) is 0.89 cents under this campaign.
As mentioned, Marriott had some better offers before but also worse ones, such as the last campaign that offered a measly 25% discount rather than a 40% bonus. On the other hand, they have in the past offered bonus amounts of up to 60%.
I would only buy points with a specific purpose in mind, such as booking a certain property where you can definitely save money by buying points and booking an award stay rather than paying revenue rates.
Another use case is if you want to redeem an airline award and the program itself doesn’t sell miles on its own, one example of which would be ANA Mileage Club. Or if the way through buying Marriott points and transferring is significantly cheaper than buying miles from the program itself.
You can also buy points during the award booking process:

Conclusion
Marriott has sold points at various bonuses in the past year, and most offers range between 40-60% bonus. This offer falls within that range, and while not spectacular, it’s also not all that bad.
You should only consider buying points during these sales IF you can beneficially use them (save cash over higher paid rates, transfer them to mileage programs that don’t sell miles on their own such as ANA Mileage Club). Using Bonvoy points for good hotel deals has become a challenge as of late.
