Many of us have lately complained about how hotels have been unable to provide or have been stingy regarding benefits associated with elite benefits such as suite upgrades.
The hotels must have felt that they need to be more open about the number of elite guests checking in daily and have started to display how many elites at various levels are coming each day. I have not seen how many of them are staying on each night.

The image above is from Courtyard Bangkok, which a reader sent us. They had 9 Titanium and 10 Platinum elite members checking in that day but no Ambassadors.
Another reader forwarded me an image shared on the internet of the number of elite guests checking in to a Marriott hotel in Japan.
More than half of the rooms at that hotel are occupied by Platinum, Titanium, and Ambassadors members, not counting in for those staying multiple nights.

Conclusion
I often ask hotel employees how the occupancy is on any given night, as it tends to give an idea of how that specific hotel and area hotels are doing.
Currently, here in Japan, the weekday occupancy at non-pure business destinations still appears to be somewhat challenging, but Saturday nights tend to be really busy, with mainly Japanese guests staying in for just one night.
Having these displays is a good idea to inform guests and set expectations straight. I hope these numbers are genuine and not “massaged” by the management to justify a lower level of service.
