Sometimes they put on the moves while the guest is staying, and sometimes the move is a set up for the guest to return to the destination area in the future so that there can be a start of getting even closer and more personal offsite.

Staffers stereotype guests. They know who generously tips and gives good reviews, and who doesn’t. And they share information about guests among themselves. Not to mention management who has your loyalty number.

Very helpful to many travelers who themselves are elitist and don’t think and can conduct themselves inappropriately with staff. Some travelers never learn this in home or school and never grow up. Some need to be reminded how to act like an adult.

My beach resort in Cape Town has the same sign.

All day I deal with horrid bosses, insane co-workers, and crazy family members. Then I go on holiday and am treated like a Lord God by healthy vibrant resort staff. I share pictures on the staffer’s WhatsApp. If I don’t get a WhatsApp, I send the pictures to management and request that the management forward the pictures (and gifts) to the staffer. I also arrange to meet staffers off-site. I dont want to get anyone fired. Staffers come and go, and you may want conduct business or personal prospects with them after they left. Also, since these staffers already have been vetted by management, I feel more relaxed being friendly with them, than with the common street criminal who suddenly wants to be your best friend and has you pay for everything, and then needs a U.S. visa, and then needs money for a business venture, or money for her mother’s hospital operation, etc.

I think it’s more when recruiting they look for people with a cheerful positive temperament (makes sense right?) and because they often recruit from south east Asia especially Phillipines it’s easy to stereotype- more of a selection criteria than anything else

As an Asian I’m inclined to agree with the stereotype comment but I would qualify that with cruise lines will often recruit from the Phillipines and select staff with a good positive friendly personality. So not so much a stereotype as a selection of a certain personality type from the same geographic area.

All I’m saying is there are countries that they themselves push so called stereotypes. Come to our country because our people are so friendly. I’ve seen this advertised for Thailand and The Philippines and in general it’s true. No French tourist board is advertising come for our friendly people.

Actually all my social contacts are they ask first, seems better that way.
