The Claremont Club & Spa, an iconic hotel perched in the hills on the Oakland-Berkeley border, has been bought by a Bay Area real estate developer in a deal that tops $160 million.

The hotel, part of the Fairmont chain, was bought for about $163.3 million, according to documents filed on May 12 with the Alameda County Recorder’s Office.

The hotel complex is a historic property and is listed as an Oakland City Historical Landmark. The Claremont also is a member of Historic Hotels of America.

Conclusion

This historic hotel has been in business for 108 years and is also a local landmark.

It is weird that it is somewhat unclear precisely who sold the hotel. Some press articles mention Accor’s own FHRI as the seller, while others refer to Blum Capital Partners and some both.

It may continue as an Accor manager property under the Fairmont brand, or it may not. The new owners can likely decide depending on what was agreed upon during the purchase process.

Unfortunately, we weren’t aware of this offer when it was launched two weeks ago, but I doubt many were.

It is an excellent offer for stays in Europe, and especially in France, a country that is often excluded from these offers.

In relation to this offer, one stay means: one (1) booking by an AccorExtent member for one or more rooms. In other words, bookings for more than one room will only be counted as one stay. Early departure dates are also counted when calculating Rewards and Status points. In other words, Accor World Members will receive Qualifying Points for each Qualifying Stay completed within the time period indicated in Clause 2.

For each qualifying stay, only one member per room can earn the corresponding bonus points, or other benefits in the applicable promotion (if any); if more than one member checks in the same room, only A member can earn corresponding bonus points or other benefits (if any) in the applicable promotion. If a member books more than two rooms on the same night, bonus bonus points will only be awarded for a maximum of two rooms.

According to the membership terms and conditions of Accor Joy World, this offer will give bonus points in addition to the bonus points and status points earned by the members for eligible stays.
After registering for the activity through the official website of Accor and the Joyful World APP and completing the eligible accommodation, the points will be credited to the member account in two installments: the points corresponding to the value of the points that the Joyful World members should have obtained

will be used as the first point Credited to the member’s account;
the extra points earned by signing up for this promotion will be credited to the member’s account as a second credit, and an additional 999 bonus points can be earned for each stay that meets this promotion. Accor World Rewards points will be credited to the member’s account within 10 working days after the member checks out.
