I have an issue with Aeroplan reward availability. For the last 2 or 3 month’s I cannot see any reward availability for India from any UK., European or far east Airport on date or any Star Alliance airline to any airport in India. We reckon on €2,400 (!!??) for the 2 of us on a 12-day cruise this July.
Odd thing…the difference between our cruise price and the all inclusive – read slow restrictive WiFi, classic drinks and tips – was a colossal €2,500 EACH.
Am I correct in they buy their booze duty free from the most advantageous port?
So, I’m not at all bothered to drink a lot onboard. Drop the price – make more passengers buy – more profit.

I booked a hotel on points under the Mr and Mrs Smith envelope under IHG on 3rd January, with an upfront statement that if I cancelled within 30days of the stay then I’d only be refunded in points. As I booked on points for the two nights of 17/18 February, I thought fair enough, I’ve used 27500 for each night therefore not a problem.
On having to cancel on the 10th February due to a separate issue, the system returned Zero points. I then waited a few days for the usual points lag and saw nothing. On contacting the IHG helpline, the the answer was that they’d look into it but that the policy was a zero reward points return also if within 30 days, it’s stated nowhere that I can find in either the IHG smallprint or indeed that on the hotels individual blurb spcifically.
If its the attached statement, it’s not particularly obvious about the points. This seems somewhat disingenuous. IHG member number is 182273774, I’m a diamond elite ambassador. Currently at about 570,000 points, it’s not so much about the points as the principle.

According my notes the reservation was $340 per google exchange rate, Rakuten shows Hilton used a 3% markup and valued it $350 instead.
